Great Service and value

The original order was out of stock but the retailer upgraded to a newer model with more features at no extra cost. Was delivered on schedule. TV has a great picture with many nice features. I am still having a problem viewing a slideshow from USB source but am making progress. I recommend this product and retailer.
What a great surprise!

I ordered this tv a few weeks ago because it was on sale and the shipping was going to be free for it. I had been searching around for the best deal on a quality tv for months now, and finally pulled the trigger on this one after i had done some research. To my surprise, before the day that the tv was supposed to be sent, i received a call from Home Theater Systems saying that they no longer make this tv anymore and that they would upgrade me to a current model for free. I was immediately shipped the VE5 46 Inch Bravia with everything updated such as refresh rate, more HDMI ports, and everything else. Turned out to be a $2,000 dollar tv for less than half the price. Quite a steal in my book.
Great experience with Sony service

So far, my experience with Sony's KDL-46V4100 has been very good. Picture is excellent, after about 4 months I have had no problems.

The only dilemma I had was user error - at first I had some older DVD players which would not function on the Composite input to the TV. I finally had Sony service come out to show me that my older players, even though they had composite output, were not compatible with this television (duh). But, I had one newer player than worked just fine. Service could have charged me $100 for the visit, but they didn't, the technician was patient with my ignorance.

So I would rate my local service provider for Sony very highly. Quite a shocker.
Poor Picture quality, I can't believe it's a Sony!

This is my first Sony TV set (KDL46V4100). My wife and I chose it mainly because of Sony's reputation.
We loved it so much at the beginning. But couple days after I took it home, I noticed every time I turn on the TV, only on HD channels, there are many black spots on the picture, especially on people's faces. After one hour or so, those black spots gradually disappeared. I am not sure if this is due to the cold weather. But this is Sony! It should not need warm up! My old Panasonic and Hitachi do not need, at least.

I visited sony's website and did a firmware update. It doesn't help. Since it's still under warranty, I am going to call Sony for repair/replacement, or return it to Best Buy.

Every thing else is good. But poor picture quality is enough to get this Sony a 1-star. Unbelievable!
Last Sony for me, terrible support, terrible features.

I got this TV for what looked at the time as a great price (sub 1k$)
and I preferred Sony over other brands due to their quality reputation.
It appears that Sony are producing junk. The image quality is mediocre,
and the features are minimal, the menu is terrible, searching for features
you endup nowhere. Sound could be better.

One point that was very important for me is support for 25fps via HDMI.
While the rest of the brands support this option, Sony quantized the world
into regions, and there is no way for you to play HD that was recorded outside
the US. I will repeat this point as it is important: Sony HDMI would not play
European standards while most of the other TVs do.
I tried contacting Sony via email thinking that there should be a simple patch
to correct this glich. Nada! Their support keep talking about PAL vrs. NTSC which
are brodcating standards for SD, and have nothing to do with their lack of support
for varrying HD frame rates.

This is my last Sony TV. They simply optimized me away!
